Friends with Benefits

About six years ago I had just moved to Charlotte,NC after breaking off an engagement with my fiance Stacey. I moved into a great 4 bedroom house and started a great new job as a Branch Manager for Hertz Car Sales. In this position I worked with a lot of sales reps trying to sell me advertising.

I had taken a sabbatical from dating at this time to get back to neutral. In the process of spending all this time with all these female sales reps,you start to get , to know a lot of them. One day I was asked,by one of the sales reps," why I did not have a girlfriend?" I laughed and told her that I was taking some time off from dating, to get over my last relationship. She then asked me "if I wanted to be friends with benefits?" I paused and drifted off for a moment,as I could hear,Marvin Gaye,"Lets get it on" playing in my head. I thanked her for paying me the compliment of asking me to be her "friend with benefits." I then replied with a no.

After some time to reflect on this, I wonder how this term came to be? Is it generation X that invented this? Are there rules that you are suppose to follow? It is so straight forward,lets just cut out the relationship, the commitment, and move straight to sex!! I have some questions. Do you have more than one friend with benefits? Is your arrangement suppose to be a secret? Or when your friends ask,is this your boyfriend? Do you reply with, this is my friend with benefits, he is great in bed.If you do not have a friend with benefits? I would recommend Tom. Do you then introduce Tom to your girlfriend? Tom she is looking for a friend with benefits. You two should talk.

I am sure that there are a lot of men and women out there that would like to know how "friends with benefits works?
